Frequently asked questions

How do I create an account?

Download MyHomeBase Manager from the App Store or Google Play (coming soon), open the app, and tap Sign In. You can sign in with email, with Google, or (on iOS) with Apple. The first time you sign in we'll create your account automatically — no separate sign-up step.

The app then walks you through a short onboarding flow where you add your first property. You can add more properties any time from the home screen.

How do I delete my account and data?

In the app, go to Profile → Danger Zone → Delete My Account and confirm. Your account is scheduled for deletion in 30 days — you can cancel anytime before then from the same screen. After 30 days, we permanently delete your authentication record, every database row scoped to your account, and every photo or document you've uploaded, and confirm by email when it's complete.

Can't access the app (lost device, etc.)? Email [email protected] from the address on your account with "Delete my account" in the subject line and we'll process it manually.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services in the us-east-1 region, encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.2+. Every API call is scoped to your authenticated user ID, so one person's data is never visible to another. Photos and documents live in a private S3 bucket and are fetched via short-lived presigned URLs.

We don't run third-party analytics, don't show ads, and never sell your data. (We do collect anonymous, first-party feature-usage analytics on our own infrastructure to understand what's useful and improve the app — see our Privacy Policy for the full picture.)

What devices are supported?

MyHomeBase Manager runs on iPhone (iOS 16 or later) and on Android phones (Android 10 or later). It also works in a web browser at app.myhomebasemanager.com (coming soon) for desktop access. iPad and Android tablet support are on the roadmap.

How do the AI features work? Is my data sent to an outside service?

When you tap an AI feature — Identify by Photo, Home Health Score, Estimate Cost, the AI Advisor chat, and similar — the relevant text or photo is sent through our backend to Anthropic's Claude API, which generates the AI response. Per Anthropic's API terms, those inputs are not retained beyond the immediate request and are not used to train their models.

We never send your authentication tokens, and we only send the data you specifically invoked the AI feature on — never your full account or photo library.

How accurate is the electrical panel mapping? Should I trust it for safety-critical work?

Panel Mapping reads your electrical panel from a photo — slot count, amperage, and which breaker controls which room or device — and shows you every field with a confidence level before anything is saved, the same review-before-apply pattern every AI feature in the app uses. It's a labeling aid built to save you time finding the right breaker, not a licensed electrician's inspection.

Before doing any electrical work, always verify the breaker yourself — flip it and confirm the affected circuit, the same way you would with a hand-labeled panel. Don't rely on the app's label alone, especially in an emergency.

Can I rely on the readiness score and Emergency Preparedness content during an actual emergency?

The readiness score, action plan, and scenario checklists are built entirely from what you've entered — your supplies, contacts, and plans. It's a self-reported planning tool that helps you think through and organize what you'd need, not a monitored safety system or a guarantee that you're actually ready.

Keep critical emergency information — contacts, utility shutoff locations, your action plan — accessible outside the app too, in case your phone is dead, lost, or unreachable when you need it. Treat the score as "how prepared you've told the app you are," not an external verification of your actual readiness.

How much does MyHomeBase Manager cost?

MyHomeBase Manager includes a 7-day free trial on every plan — after that, a subscription is required. Pricing scales with how many properties you track:

  • Home — 1 property
  • Multi-Home — 2–5 properties
  • Portfolio — 6–10 properties

Each plan is available monthly or annually. See current pricing in the app or on the App Store / Google Play listing — pricing can vary by region and is set there, not here. You can cancel any time from your device's subscription settings — during the trial or after.

I cancelled my subscription, but I was still charged. What happened?

Cancelling stops the next renewal — it doesn't refund the period you already paid for. If you cancelled partway through a billing period, you keep full access until that period ends, and the charge you saw was most likely for the period that was already in progress before you cancelled, not a new one.

If a charge happened after that period should have ended, first double-check you cancelled on the same Apple ID or Google account you actually subscribed with — in the app, go to Profile → Manage Subscription, which opens your device's subscription settings directly, so you can confirm the status for sure. If it still looks wrong from there, Apple or Google holds the actual billing record (we never see your card details) — see the refund question below for how to reach them directly.

Can I get a refund?

All purchases go through the App Store or Google Play, so refunds are issued by Apple or Google, not by us directly — we don't have the ability to refund a charge ourselves, even if we wanted to.

  • iOS: reportaproblem.apple.com, or Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device
  • Android: Google Play Store → Account → Order history → find the charge → Request a refund

If a refund request is because of an app-side bug or something that didn't work as promised, email us at [email protected] with "Refund request" in the subject — we can't issue the refund ourselves, but we'll help document what went wrong for your request to Apple or Google, and we'd genuinely like to know if something didn't work right.

Is there a limit on how many AI features I can use per day?

Yes — a daily limit protects against runaway costs from a compromised account or a bug, not from normal use. Limits scale with your plan: Home gets 40 AI calls/day, Multi-Home gets 100/day, and Portfolio gets 200/day. "AI calls" covers anything that invokes Claude — Identify by Photo, Home Health Score, the AI Advisor, Estimate Cost, and similar features.

If you hit your limit, the app tells you exactly how many you've used and that it resets at midnight UTC. Need more? Email [email protected] with "AI limit increase" in the subject and we'll take a look.

I found a bug. How do I report it?

Email [email protected] with "Bug report" in the subject line. Tell us what you were doing, what happened, and what you expected. A screenshot or screen recording is gold. We'll respond within one business day, often the same day.

How do I contact support?

Email [email protected]. That's the fastest way. We don't have a phone hotline — we'd rather spend the time fixing what you wrote in than running a call center.
